Lincoln Dads (and Granddad) of Lincoln Kids

These outstanding dads and granddad not only motivate their kiddos to aim high, but they are also actively working toward their own goals.

Meet the Dads

Tim is a Property Book Officer for the Army National Guard and the President of Star City BMX, a nonprofit dedicated to giving riders of all ages the chance to participate in BMX. He’s a proud father who loves to cheer on his two active teens, Jayden and Lydia.

Chris has four grandkids, and there’s no doubt they keep him young at heart. He works at the Nebraska Department of Revenue as anIT Infrastructure Support Analyst, where the daily challenges are almost as fascinating (to him) as playing with his grandkids.

Seth loves experiencing the world through his daughter’s eyes. Whether it’s Charley’s singing or observations of the world, she brings a sense of wonder he appreciates. He’s the owner and operator of Midwest Craft House, offering unique decor and quality hardware supplies

Tell us about your kids.

Jayden Joel is 16 and Lydia Lynn is 13.What do you love about being a dad? I love watching the kids grow and reliving my childhood through my kids.

What do you like about your career?

I love serving our nation. I also love fielding new equipment to soldiers, knowing they will be better prepared to do their job.

What is the best advice someone hasgiven you about being a dad?

Get involved in what they love, and give compliments before criticism.Treat others the same way I would like to be treated is something I was taught at a young age from my parents.

What is something that you enjoywatching?

I’ve been watching every Husker football video they post. I’m so excited for the season! What are your kids up to? Both kids stay busy with family, friends, school, sports, and work. We try to eat together as a family and I always value that time (and my wife’s great cooking).Their journey and growth is a good lesson for me to do better and be better for them.

What’s your best dad joke?

A BMXer lying on his deathbed asked his best friend to do him a favor when he’s gone. “Anything,” replied his friend.“Just don’t let my wife sell our bikes for what I told her I paid for them,” he begged.

How do NCAA basketball players stay cool during a game? They stand near the fans.

Tell us about your daughter.

Charlotte (Charley) is 7.

What do you love about being a dad?

I enjoy being a dad because I get to be a kid again myself. I love being able to play outside, go to events around town, and experience new and exciting things with my daughter. It’s fun to see Charley experience things for the first time. Also, watching her grow and become more independent is a fun part of being a dad too.

Tell us about your occupation.

I own and operate Midwest Craft House. We design and sell new, made to look old, hardware and decor. This consists of items like drawer pulls, knobs, shelf brackets, decorative hinges, door knockers, or other home decor that you would see in a farmhouse setting.

What is the best advice someone has given you about being a dad?

I remember a colleague of mine telling me that fatherhood will change everything and to just embrace it. At the time, it felt a little overwhelming, but they were definitely right. Everything does change and in a positive way.

What is your daughter up to?

Charley has really started to ask some intelligent questions this past year. When filling my truck up at the gas station, she recently asked me if my truck took diesel or unleaded gas. I thought that was pretty funny because we have never talked about that before and I didn’t even think she knew there was a difference. It has also been fun to listen to her sing songs from what she hears on the radio or in music class at school. When she wakes up in the morning, she will come out of her room singing a song with a big smile on her face.
